In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla until combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
Stir gently until just combined. A few small lumps are perfectly fine.
Let the batter rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
Heat a lightly buttered nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Pour about ¼ cup of batter onto the hot skillet for each pancake.
Cook until bubbles appear on the surface and the edges begin to set, about 2 to 3 minutes.
Flip and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes until golden brown.
Repeat with the remaining batter.
Serve warm with butter and maple syrup.
