  • 1 tablespoon chopped dill pickles or relish
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • 8 slices sourdough or sandwich bread
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter softened

  2. Mix until everything is well combined.
  3. Butter one side of each slice of bread.

  5. Top each with a slice of cheddar cheese.
  6. Divide the tuna mixture evenly over the cheese.
  7. Add another slice of cheddar if desired for an extra cheesy sandwich.
  8. Place the remaining bread slices on top with the buttered side facing up.
  9. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  10. Cook the sandwiches for 3 to 4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  11. Slice in half and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Drain the tuna thoroughly to prevent a soggy sandwich.
  • Cook over medium heat so the bread crisps without burning.
  • Sharp cheddar melts beautifully and adds bold flavor.
  • Use thick-cut bread for the best texture.
  • Press gently while cooking for even browning.
